The weather was perfect for this year’s Holiday Stroll. Well, perfect for late October, anyway, which meant that unlike in recent years, you could actually stroll around without your eyeballs freezing solid. Thousands upon thousands took advantage of the 50+ degree weather and came out to mingle, watch the parade, pet some reindeer and check out all the great specials in our local shops. Trunk or Treat was a creepy good time!

Downtown Red Wing was overrun with chills and thrills on Saturday, October 29, as Trunk or Treat made its terrifying return. Hundreds of kids in their scariest, sportiest, and creative(est) costumes turned out to haunt downtown and skulk away with candy handed out from the trunks of cars decorated by local businesses and organizations. The Sheldon Theatre ran a kid-friendly a haunted house, Cornerstone Community Church offered a haunted carnival, pumpkins were carved in front of Lily’s and a 4H petting zoo made everyone scream in delight.

Trunk or Treat is a very cool event and you should definitely consider coming to Red Wing next year to get in on the fun. Until then, these photos should tide you over. Check out our Flickr page for even more!

The 2011 Red Wing Fall Festival of the Arts couldn’t have been better. The weather was perfect, the leaves were in full bloom, the Farmer’s Market was rockin’ and the Red Wing Trolley was rolling. Fall is here in beautiful Red Wing, Minnesota, and nowhere is it more evident than on the Red Wing trailhead for the Cannon Valley Trail. Leaf-lookers, there is NO better place to take fall foliage photos than in Red Wing, Minnesota, in October.

Red Wing Community Gardens

One of the cooler things about living in Red Wing, Minnesota? Community gardens. There are gardens at Colvill Park, Spring Creek Avenue and the corner of E. Fourth and Bluff. These organic team efforts really are what community is all about.

The Mayflies are coming!

Your friendly Travel Counselor spied a few mayflies over the weekend, which means that it’s only a matter of time before the city parking garage windows are coated in the little buggers.
